Hari Jones, former curator of the African American Civil War Memorial and Museum
Thu, JUN 09, 2016, 06:30pm

The Black Archives of Mid-America, 1722 E. 17th Terrace, Kansas City, MO, is featuring Hari Jones, former curator of the African American Civil War Memorial and Museum, on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 6:30 p.m.

Jones is the foremost authority on the role of African American soldiers in the Civil War and debunks historical myths related to Juneteenth by examining the actions and strategies employed by African Americans in their struggle for freedom, from slave rebellions in the 1830s to enlistment in the Union Army during the Civil War.

He sheds light on African American intelligence and espionage efforts on behalf of the Union leading up to and through the war.

He details the activities and movements of specific people of African descent on both sides of the lines, who saw the Civil War as the ultimate means of ending slavery.
