Charles Valier, Chairman of the Bingham Trust, will share insights through his years of study of the George Caleb Bingham Sketches.  During the mid-19th century Bingham was both a candidate and chronicler.  Mr. Valier will elaborate on Bingham’s aspirations and the fierce election fight in 1846 between himself and Erasmus Darwin Sappington.  Using sketches in preparation for “County Election” and “Stump Speaking,” Valier will reveal the identities of many of the Individuals and explain the significance of who was included and who was left out.
