CWRTWM September 2015 Membership Meeting
Wed, SEP 09, 2015, 07:00pm - 09:00pm

Program:  Keith Nelson – “History of the Chouteaus in Missouri.” Keith is trying to build a fountain monument to Francois Chouteau north of the Missouri River because he and his wife actually stopped at Randolph Bluffs in 1821 to establish a trading post between present-day Harrah’s Casino and Cerner Corporation. Some consider him to be Kansas City’s founding father.

*** Note new location (temporary until we can find a new permanent home):

Silver Heart Inn
1114 S. Noland Road
Independence, MO

There is no street parking on Noland Road, but we have made arrangements to park in the lot of the Immanuel Baptist Church at 112 W. 23rd Street which is just around the corner to the west from the Silver Heart Inn.  You can take the sidewalk to the front or the alley to the back of the house.  Limited parking is at the rear of the home which we will reserve for the speaker, the refreshment providers, and handicapped persons.

Copies of our second “Monuments” book are available at the meeting for $20 for members ($25 for non-members).  If you want to buy a copy of Civil War Monuments and Memorials in Western Missouri  by mail, you can send a check (include an additional $2.75 for shipping) payable to CWRTWM, P.O. Box 3019, Independence, MO 64055.
