2015 Commemoration of the Battle of Lone Jack
From Fri, AUG 14, 2015 -  07:00pm
To Sat, AUG 15, 2015 - 07:00pm

On August 16, 1862 a furious and bloody battle swept through the peaceful streets of Lone Jack. In the aftermath one civilian dies – Lucinda Cave whose husband owns the Cave Hotel, now a historic site of the Lone Jack Historical Society. Recently California descendants of Lucinda’s son Jesse, have loaned her death bed to the museum and it will be on display.

At 10:00 a.m. the always moving wreath-laying ceremony will be conducted at the cemetery. At 1:00 p.m. listen to the sounds of Missouri as they echo from past times. Hank Roberts seeks to tell the stories of Missourians living along the border and experiencing the horrific times of the Border War and Civil War with his ballads of Missouri Sounds. During a Cave Hotel Open House from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., a Civil War reenactor will portray Lucinda Cave in first person. Food will be for sale on the grounds.

The Round Table will have a table to distribute information about our activities and sell our “Monuments” books. We need volunteers to staff our table from 9:00 a.m. to Noon and from Noon to 3:00 p.m. Please call Beverly Shaw at (816) 225-7944 if you can help.
Location Civil War Battlefield Park and Cemetery, 305 S. Bynum Road, Lone Jack, MO (1/2 mile south of Highway 50 exit)
