Freedom Day / Juneteenth

Joe Mattox will talk about the celebration of Juneteenth, one of the most important historic events in the history of African Americans when slaves received word about the Emancipation Proclamation. The story will continue on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at 1 p.m.


A modern celebration of Juneteenth will take place June 12-13, 2015 in St. Joseph, MO at the John Lucas Park at 18th and Charles with a parade, African art, historical reenactments, music, food, health fair and picnic.
