Mike Calvert, president of the Civil War Round Table of Western Missouri, will discuss a short deadly affair that took place near the present-day Truman Medical Center-Lakewood. On July 6, 1864, Capt. S.W. Wagoner and 25 men of Company C, 2nd Colorado Cavalry, were on a scout for guerrillas to the south of the Independence-Harrisonville Road. They encountered George Todd and 100 of his men.
